BEWARE OF THE RICH MAN’s DISEASE…

I was scheming through the WHO report for this year and I was happy to see that they laid emphasis on obesity, diabetes, high blood pressure and hypertension especially in third world countries.
We have always known these non communicable diseases as diseases that mostly affect the developed nations because of their diet. Well guess what? Since we are beginning to enjoy the ‘white man’s food’ more and more, we are also falling victim to these diseases. It is interesting seeing as we are still trying to battle other diseases that claim lives in thousands hundreds.
The WHO report says that nearly eighty percent of deaths from these diseases now occur in poor countries; in some countries in Africa, between 40-50 percent of the population have high blood pressure.
These diseases are very avoidable, we just need to be a little more responsible. Remember health is wealth!!!!!

LAGOS AIDS WALK 2012

The Lagos AIDS walk took place on Saturday, 21st April! I was a volunteer and so proud to be a part of this event.
Kenneth Kaunda did not show up like i expected but he sent a representative…fair enough!!!
I did not take too many pictures as I was deeply engrossed in the event. The turn out was awesome and it was fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We were creating awareness about HIV/AIDS- saying NO to stigma and discrimination.

RED CROSS MOTHERLESS/ABANDONED BABIES HOME VISIT- PICTURES

on the 19th of April, my NYSC CD group (Red Cross) paid a visit to the motherless/abandoned babies home maintained by the Nigerian Red Cross in Makoko, Lagos.
It was the best experience ever. I fell in love with the kids…I’ll definitely go back there, Maybe on my birthday which is coming up pretty soon!!!!
The oldest kid there is about 10 years old. Some of the kids get adopted by promising families, There’s a school there for the kids.
They are short staffed and require volunteers. So, if you want to get your good on, you know where to go.

POLICE BRUTALITY IN AKWA IBOM STATE- PLEASE WATCH

I THINK WE SHOULD SPREAD THE WORD!!!!!!!!!!!!!

LAGOS AIDS WALK!!!

Good news!!!! There’s a ‘Lagos Aids Walk’ coming up! I’m excited because i love activism especially when it is about health issues! And yes, I’m attending!
Obviously, the event will be about raising awareness about stigmatization and discrimination against people living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA) and to advocate for support for prevention, care and treatment programs. Sounds like fun…doesn’t it?
Well, the other reason I’m attending is because Kenneth Kaunda will be there as well. THE Kenneth Kaunda you read about in history books from Zambia…so exciting!!!!
If you wanna join in, you have to go to http://www.lagosaidswalk..org to register and then show up at the playing ground opposite LSPDC Estate, Ebute Metta at 9 a.m (21st April)
Governor Fashola, Tinubu, Funke Adeleke (Jenifa), Pastor Ituah Ighodalo and some other entertainers will be attending!
Remember we will be campaigning for ZERO INFECTIONS, ZERO DISCRIMINATION AND ZERO AIDS RELATED DEATHS!!!!!

Africans seeking a better life in China- Video

Hi all,

I found this interesting and informative video on CNN about Africans (especially Nigerians) looking to make better lives in Guangzhou, China.

I find it very interesting that China has become a business destination for Africans, and we have watched China gain more and more economic power. What is China doing that Africa (as a whole) is not?African entrepreneurs in China

Very Interesting

I found this at a prospective landlord’s office and I had to stop and take a picture. It made me laugh for a bit but it is the absolute truth! Sorry you have to slightly tilt your neck to read it! I did not know how to turn it over.
